Recently I was digging around on the internet and I found an article on www.statepress.com written about our team. The article also features quotes from our co-president Becca Simpson. If you would like to read the article please go to the link below.

America Cup Championship Arabian Horse Show
November 11-13 was the America Cup Championship at Westworld in Scottsdale. The ASU western team was at the show both volunteering for the Arabian Horse Association of Arizona and raising funds for our team. The AHAA was kind enough to also let us set up a booth in the equidome in order to promote our team and raise money for next semesters costs. The team was there from 7:30 in the morning until 5:00 at night all three days. Some of the members of the team were able to help at the show by manning the gate and also presenting ribbons and helping in the arena. Our co-president Alexa Magee had the honor of presenting ribbons and she did an excellent job!
At the booth, we were talking with people about the team and IHSA. I would say that the consensus of the weekend was that most people didn't know ASU had an equestrian team. We were also raffling off prizes every day to people who donated to the team. Some of the prizes included: horse feed (donated by Purina), gift certificates (donated by The Stock Shop), gift cards (donated by a team member, and much more! We were able to raise over $300 dollars which will be used to help pay for show fees next semester. We can't thank the Arabian Horse Association of Arizona enough for the opportunity to get exposure and raise much needed funds for the team.
We especially enjoyed helping with the dog race and dog costume contest! Not to mention, we were able to play dodgeball for a local charity.
All in all, the American Cup Championship was a great time and we can't wait until the Scottsdale show in February!

Show at Cal Poly Pomona 11/19/11
This past weekend we had our second show at Cal Poly Pomona. We had a morning show and an afternoon show. In the morning show our team got reserve high point team and every single person placed in their division. In the second show our rider Krista McNaughton won high point rider and we won high point as a team. Besides the fact that we were absolutely freezing, we had an excellent time and are looking forward to our next show in February.
One of our riders had to miss the show and we missed her very much.

The Horse Show with Rick Lamb
The ASU Western team recently got some national exposure on the radio. Our coach, Bob Leary, had the privilege of being interviewed by Rick Lamb on his radio show The Horse Show. During the interview Bob and Rick talked in great detail about the IHSA (Intercollegiate Horse Show Association) circuit. They also talked about what it takes to join the team. Bob also mentioned a few funny stories about how great he is at helping us with our hair for the shows!
The interviewed aired on the show October 29th, and you can listen to it on Rick Lamb's website. I also encourage you to become a member of his website so that you can listen to past radio shows and other neat things!

Thank you to Mr. Lamb for this special opportunity to get the word out about IHSA and the ASU Western team.

Bridle and Bit Article
Below is a link to one of our recent events that our team volunteered at. Our own team mate, Kelsey Roderique kindly wrote an article and submitted it to the Bridle and Bit. We were so excited to be able to meet John Lyons and Brandi Lyons! They are both so amazing and inspirational.
